Pickup can be done at your hotel or anywhere you wish.
The first destination is Oia. Oia is a traditional settlement located at the northern end of the island, at a distance of 11 kilometres northwest of Fira and an altitude of about 120 metres. Oia was one of the five castle-towns of Santorini during the Frankish occupation, the famous “Kastelia”, called the Kasteli of St. Nicholas. It is considered one of the most picturesque parts of Greece, with a strong sense of tradition, the well-known captain houses and famous the world over for its stunning sunset.
Leaving Oia behind, moving on to Firostefani, which is an old settlement north of Fira, the capital of Santorini, nowadays a district of Fira. Its name means "the wreath of Fira" and that’s because it stands at a higher altitude than Fira. It features traditional houses with narrow alleys and views of the volcano. At Firostefani you come across the trade-mark blue dome churches, ideal for photos of a lifetime. Carrying on with the trip, our van travels to Profitis Ilias, a mountain with a max. altitude of 567 metres. At the top of the mountain lies the Monastery of Prophet Elias, with its amazing view being an important attraction for visitors. From this high up, your gaze can pan seamlessly not only out to the whole of Santorini, but also to nearly every island in the Cyclades.
Next up, the van reaches Pyrgos (Tower). Pyrgos tis Kallistis or Pyrgos used to be the old capital of Santorini and is the highest village on the island. Here, at the centre of the island stands the medieval castle still in true Venetian Empire style: the Byzantine churches, medieval houses and castles. The Castle is in excellent condition, with houses amphitheatrically built around it. It is worth visiting the nearby, picturesque village, located atop the hill, boasting a spectacular view. The village features restaurants, tavernas and bars.
Last stop of this tour is a visit to a picturesque Santorini winery. You are given the opportunity to explore and discover its history as well as to learn about the techniques of making wine and even tasting some of its most famous wines.
